Carve

What it does

Drop a sample. Carve it. Play it by hand.

A vocal, a breakbeat, a field recording. Carve detects transients and lays one slice across each MIDI key. From there, your fingers do everything: pitch bends the slice, pressure swells it, sliding along the key surface scrubs the playhead inside the slice. The sample stays where you put it.

No sequencer, no step grid, no looping engine. Just the sample, the keys, and your MPE controller. The SAMPLR gesture, made for the MPE era.

MPE routing

Slice per key, MPE per finger.

Every gesture from your controller maps to a property of the slice it's playing. Pick up a different finger, get a different slice; same gestures, same musical sense.

Note
Picks the slice. One transient per key from the auto-sliced sample. Hold a chord, layer multiple slices.
Pitch bend
Bends the slice's pitch on the fly. Slide between notes for classic glide; bend at the end of a slice to extend it musically.
Pressure
Amplitude. Lean in and the slice swells; lift and it ducks. Each voice independent so a chord breathes per-finger.
Slide (Y)
Scrubs the playhead inside the slice. Forward = later in the slice; back = earlier. The signature SAMPLR move, on every key.

Requirements

What it runs on, today.

Quiver plugins are built for MPE controllers and tested in real workflows before they ship. The supported set is deliberately narrow right now so every shipped plugin works the way the page describes. Wider coverage comes as each host gets a full pass.

macOS

Apple Silicon (M1 or newer). Intel Macs and Windows are on the roadmap, not yet supported. VST3 and AU.

Tested in

Ableton Live 12. Bitwig Studio, Reaper, and other MPE-aware VST3 / AU hosts should work but are not yet covered by our test pass.

Logic Pro

Should work as an instrument. Not yet covered by our test pass.

Controllers

Built for Osmose, Push 3, Seaboard, LinnStrument, Continuum. The plugin loads without an MPE controller, but the whole point is the per-finger gesture.

Price

€50. The price is the price.

Carve is a full sample instrument, sized to match Reach. Drop a sample, get a playable per-finger sample-slicer that takes your MPE controller seriously. No sales, ever; free major-version updates; a 14-day no-questions refund if it doesn't fit your workflow.
